The Chiara Cardi

Here's hoping I can figure out how to add this pattern here and at Rav!

THE "CHIARA" CARDI

Please note: I have only developed this pattern in one size.

The finished chest measurement will be approx. 64 cms [25 inches].

The garment has wide, ¾ sleeves; and the body is a 1930s swing top style with a lace border. This is why the chest/underarm measurement may seem a little 'weird'.

It could easily be down-sized by using 5-ply [Sport/Baby] yarn; or up-sized by using 10-ply Aran yarn [Worsted Weight].

Remember to use the correct needle sizes.

Tension/Gauge is 22 stitches and 30 rows to 10cms (4 inches) using 4mm (US6) size needles.

MATERIALS:

Approx 180 grams of 8-ply [DK] yarn

Size 4 mm [US size 6] needles – I used flats for the body & edges; and a 30cm [12 inch] 4mm circular for the sleeves and neck edging.

Spare yarn or stitch holders

Buttons

BODY (worked in one piece to armholes)

CO 161 sts loosely ~ if you cast on too tightly, the lace edge will curl & it will NOT SIT FLAT.

Continue in Stocking Stitch until sleeve measures 20 cms (or length desired); ending with 5 rows of garter stitch.

Work the second sleeve in the same manner.

Work 5 rows of garter stitch.

BO loosely.

Work both edges in the same manner.

Neck Edging:

With right side facing and using a 30cm 4mm circular needle, pick up approx 58 sts evenly around neck edge/s. This will include the two groups of 5 sts rem on spare yarn.

Work 5 rows of garter stitch.

BO loosely.

Weave in any ends neatly.

Sew on buttons.

Self Buttonholes are made by pushing button/s through fabric of other front.

Block gently to prevent Lace Border and Garter Stitch edges rolling.

This pattern is for personal use only.

Please do not make and sell items from it or I'll come hunt you down!

Beautiful pattern. I would also appreciate it if it were available for an adult size. It is my favorite pattern on the entire web site for cardigan sweaters. My e-mail address is Jeanwt@hughes.net. Thanks so much. If there is a fee for the pattern, I will happily pay for it.

So where do I get the answers to the above questions? Love the sweater but need it in a plus size.
Thanks

Could you convert this pattern to an adult size? That would be awesome! Especially an extra large size. I love you forever if you do! LOL

I love this pattern but am confused about two items:
1 - The finished chest measurement states 25 inches. Is that across the front
only? (being 50" total circumference or, is this a child's pattern?)

2 - How many yards are in 180 grams?

I am in Oregon and we have the U.S. measurements but I can't find a conversion chart and Fall is quickly approaching.

I love your cats being included in your blog. We have 11 cats and 2 large dogs at our home. I love them all. Plus squirrels, blue jays and the occasional red wing flicker (woodpecker) that drives us crazy.

I admire that you can design patterns. Just learning to knit top down baby raglans for Neonatal Units across Canada and am enjoying it. I still need to polish my skills a bit , but I think I can make this for my granddaughters for Christmas. Thanks so very much.Jean

Thank you lovely ladies for offering this pattern to the public. Such a pretty little sweater.

For those of us who need the extra information, would you please be able to add to your pattern what gauge we should end up with? Also, I think over in Australia, what you call "DK" may be what we in USA call "worsted". This would be so helpful to know just a tad more information.

Thanks again for offering your lovely girls sweater pattern.

Cute sweater! Such a pitty, though, that with no guage specified and the odd 25" measurement, I wouldn't even attempt it.

So, in theory, if I double all the numbers, this can be made to fit a plus size girl?
